Coaching approach - Although "coaching" is often used in reference to advising or counseling, the profession of trained and certified professional coaching is dramatically different. In contrast to the descriptive and prescriptive advice provided by adviser/counselor acting as experts, coaching is a facilitative relationship. A coach does not provide direct answers or advise, rather they follow your agenda and facilitate your discovery.
ADAPT approach - The ADAPT (Adaptability Development and Authentic Purpose Targeted) career coaching model is a facilitative coaching process. This model integrates the theories and evidence-based practices from the literature on adult development, professional coaching, and career advising. One of the foundations of the model is the importance of self-discovery and shared meaning making through peer coaching and modeling. ADAPT is designed to promote new learning and growth by engaging the individual's internal perspectives, external habit formation, the influence of the group on shared meaning, and best fit with the external environment.
** In an effort to contribute to the scholarly literature, all clients will be asked to participate in a brief Pre- and Post- assessment tool to understand the impact of the intervention. The results of these assessments will be shared and debriefed with participant upon request.
** All participants of individual coaching engagements will be asked to rate their experience to increase the client-coach matching algorithm.
